Trend Report 2021: Bridal Separates

NK Bride December 5, 2023

We love a Bridal Separate! You can see that by checking out our own line of separates, but this year separates are more popular than ever. Designers flooded fashion week with unique and modern interpretations of bridal separates and we’ve collected some of our favorites for you to explore!

We wanted to start strong with these modern looks from designer Leanne Marshall. They are light and modern, and so perfect for the modern women. We love the pop of color she added into her design, best part is this colorful skirt is a separate, so a more traditional bride could still rock this dress. The second gown with the cropped top is an absolute favorite. It is so effortlessly gorgeous, and we can see so many brides wanting a gown like this in 2021.

This sexy separate set is by designer Elizabeth Fillmore, and is an absolute dream for the modern bride. The sleek pant is stunning, and fits the leg in a slimming fashion. The classic pant style paired with a sexy bustier is a smart choice by the designer. Create a smart and sexy look, the designer took every detail into consideration. We are giving this look a 10/10 and home you love it too!

Vera Wang had no hesitations exploring separates this year! Her fall 2021 collection pushed far beyond traditional bridal by including prints, colors, and even black! We love the severity of these designs, and think a lot of inspiration can be found by our brides. From the gorgeous jackets to the hot short, she was absolutely ready to shock us, and we love it! Would you ever wear a dark color for your wedding? We think the juxtaposition of black and white in these designs is truly modern!

Modern design is something that doesn’t always infiltrate into bridal, as bridal designers continue to return to traditions for inspiration. Maison Rabih Kayrouz broke the cycle of tradition with this truly modern collection. These separate pieces are not only practical for the modern bride, they are undeniably cool. This designer went so far beyond the pant shirt combo, and truly designed womenswear for the bride. Even the suit in this collection is anything but basic, featuring a sleek, baggy fit, and the sleeve slit. Maison Rabih Kayrouz is definitely a designer to watch for.

This collection by designer Cortana embodies feminine simplicity, and modern women’s formal wear. This collection offers an array of separates that can make finished looks for brides with all kinds of aesthetics. From tops that perfectly match a bottom to create am evening gown look, to shirt/skirt combos that create free and expressive combinations Cortana absolutely nailed the customizable aspect of bridal separates. The designs have a distinct vintage feel, and the details and finishing give a traditional flare to this modern design concept.

In a truly varied collection, Kaviar Gauche explored separates from shorts to elegant skirts. The variety available in this line makes it adaptable for any bride. Consider the top from look 3 with the bottom in look 2. That would be a truly dramatic look. However, the top of look 3 placed with the slacks in look 1 would be far more sophisticated. This collection is truly modern, and explored unique pieces that still mesh seamlessly with a lineup of other options. We have to give these looks a ten out of ten.

Ashi Sudio’s presented this daring lookin their fall 2021 line. In love with the dramatic feather top, and it is so sophisticated when paired with a sleek pant like this. This look is a prime example of how dramatic/classic combos coordinate so organically in bridal separates lines. In looks like this brides can really showcase their wild side, while still wearing a part of their outfit that keeps them in their comfort zone.

Markarian created a must talk about look in this collection. This effortlessly chic look almost resembles pajamas in the best way! By that we mean it is so soft and elegant, and looks like it makes the model so comfortable in her own skin. Not to mention the added pearl details across the pockets, really bringing an elevated sense of style to the look. Although this look has a soft appearance, the masculine references bring a real rock and roll edge to the look.

These separates from the Valentine Avoh collection are a great example of how functional separates are intended to be. In these two looks we can see one top paired with two skirts, and each outfit has a totally different aesthetic. The fabrics in this collection elevate it to a high fashion level, and really brings these simple designs to life. This excellent example of bridal separates is perfect for the bride of today, especially those having a mini-wedding. We love how wearable, and adorable both looks are for the 2021 bride.
